I recently had the privilege of photographing the Boykins family. Meet Olivia, the youngest. She’s energetic and mischievous. A little wild one. I was excited to learn that chicken soup was her favorite food and captured these expressive shots of her as she told me about it.
Olivia & Julia. Julia is a bit more shy than Olivia and I could tell she was a thinker. I love her sweet little smile.
This is Lauren. Her laugh is absolutely magnetic. When she laughs I instantly feel the warmth of her smile and want to be her friend. Don’t you?
Kayla is the oldest, and we had some fun with modeling for her individual portraits. I loved having her walk it out & work it for the camera. She, of course, rocked it! You’re gorgeous, darling!
And we couldn’t forget to take some time for Mom & Dad (Tiffany & Jeff)… don’t they make a cute couple?
Some of my favorite photographs growing up are with each of my parents by myself… there’s something so special about the time I was able to spend with just my mom or just my dad by myself, which I think is true in a lot of big families. So, I thought I’d take some time for each of the girls to get photos with both mom & dad alone… and they’re some of my favorites of the day.
And I ended the session with this fun little exercise: I had Dad lead his family in a fun little game of follow the leader… and he decided to lead them in a rumba line! Yes, there were more formal photos taken & those have their place, but what could be more authentic & special than a family having fun & laughing together? Real expressions don’t always come when we try to sit pretty & look perfect. Real expressions are present when we let go and succumb to the moment, the memory being made. That’s why this image is my favorite group photo of the day.
So, get out this weekend & make some lasting memories with your families, y’all! Happy Friday!
