Mary Beth & Culby’s wedding at the UGA Chapel and Georgian Hall in Athens, Georgia was a day I’ve been looking forward to since I first chatted with Mary Beth last year! I was instantly drawn to Mary Beth because of her kindness and joy, and I love that she & Culby have a beautiful friendship and heart for the Lord at the center of their relationship! Culby and Mary Beth are sweet, enthusiastic, fun-loving and adorably silly together! Capturing them was so much fun because they laughed together all day, and they naturally loved on each other without much prompting from me at all! They truly are a joy to be around!Read More
I loved meeting up with Erica & Alan at Vickery Creek Falls in Roswell! I have long loved the look of waterfall photos, and Erica & Alan were the perfect adventurous couple to make the dream a reality! We met up just after sunrise (before all the tourists arrived), and the light was simply beautiful!Read More
Katie and Nathan’s wedding at the Graduate in Athens, Georgia was such special day! Katie and Nathan’s love story began in Athens, so it was only appropriate that their friends and family from near and far gather in the place where it all began! I have loved Katie’s excited & magnetic personality from when we first chatted on the phone last spring, and I absolutely loved capturing her as a joyful bride!Read More
Colleen and David’s wedding at the Cathedral of Christ the King and the Carlos Ballroom at the Hellenic Center in Atlanta was so much fun! I first met Colleen last summer when she was a bridesmaid in Emily & Austin’s wedding (also at the gorgeous Cathedral of Christ the King)! I love Colleen & David's story. They first met in 6th grade!Read More
Betsy & Shawn’s wedding at In the Woods in Rockmart, Georgia was such a beautiful day! I first met Betsy last year when I started working at the Georgia House of Representatives as their photographer for legislative session, and I had the chance to meet Shawn during session as well! I immediately loved the pair together! I adore the way they make each other laugh and the way they’ve supported each other every step of their relationship! And, I was thrilled when I saw that Shawn proposed on Betsy’s birthday down in Savannah last spring! We had an absolute blast taking their engagement photos at the North Georgia State Fair last fall, and the wedding was even more fun!
The day began with Betsy & her party getting ready in one of the cabins at In the Woods! Highlights include - Taylor Swift playing while everyone got ready, the emotional Bridesmaids’ Reveal and Betsy’s First Look with her Dad! On the other side of the property, Shawn and the guys hung out & got ready at the pool house, and I love the fun photos Steven (my second photographer for the day) captured of the guys!
The ceremony was set inside the pavilion right along the lake, and it was amazingly appropriate that the sun decided to show up right about the time Betsy made her grand entrance! One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing Shawn’s eyes well up with tears when he saw Betsy for the first time as his bride! Their entire ceremony was beautiful and emotional! After wiping away a few happy tears, the new Mr. and Mrs. left the ceremony to huge applause! I love the excitement you could see on their faces!
After the ceremony, we finished photos around the lake, and I was thrilled that the sun pierced through the trees - truly highlighting their joy & love! After photos, we went over to the reception where friends and family enjoyed margaritas - Betsy & Shawn’s signature drink in honor of Cinco de Theroux (their special spin on Cinco de Mayo!). From the memorable entrances to toasts (one even by Speaker Ralston!) their reception was full of energy and joy, and they left the reception through a tunnel of sparklers!
Betsy and Shawn - I’m so happy for you guys! You could not be more perfect for each other, and it’s been such an honor to witness and capture your love story! Betsy, your smile lights up the room, and Shawn, I adore seeing the way you love Betsy! The joy, the emotion, the party - I loved being a part of it all! I hope the photos will always bring you back to the emotions you felt on Day 1 of your marriage! Hugs! Much love & appreciation - Carrie Joy

Annie and David’s wedding at the Oaks in Madison, Georgia was such an incredible day! And the cherry on top is that it's being featured over on the Southern Weddings blog today!
I love the way Annie describes their story, "Two people from opposite sides of the country met through chance, became fast friends, went on countless trips and adventures together, and fell in love along the way." David proposed on a camping trip near Mount Rainier, and the rest, as they say, is history! Since Annie and David love being outdoors, so it was important that they have everything from the ceremony to the reception outside! Annie's parents home, the Oaks, was built in 1835 and totally fit the look they were going for with the outdoor celebration! And, it was also the perfect nod to Annie's family heritage! I love that these two were laughing together all day and were so cute and romantic together! From the loving glances to the shared giggles, they were a joy to capture, and I simply loved being around them!
The day started with Annie and her girls getting ready in the gorgeous southern home, and I loved seeing the sweet relationship Annie had with each of the girls! After hair and makeup finished, Annie got into her gown with her Mom, and I was blown away! Annie's Bo & Luca gown from the Dress Theory is really one of my favorite dresses I’ve ever seen! When she came onto the porch in her gown, the girls squealed in excitement! It was such an adorable moment! And speaking of sweet moments, I had to hold back tears during Annie’s Father/Daughter First Look when both Annie and her Dad were overcome by emotion! Gets me every time! I really enjoyed capturing David with his groomsmen and family as well!
The ceremony overlooked a beautiful field on one side of the property, and a gorgeous asymmetrical floral garland featuring magnolia leaves and flowers was the perfect touch! David’s face as Annie came down the aisle was absolutely priceless, and I love that the couple had both Dads read scripture during the ceremony!
After the ceremony, we took family and wedding party photos while the rest of the guests took a short walk across the property towards the “pole barn” for cocktail hour and the reception! Afterwards, we transitioned into Bride and Groom portraits, and the light was absolutely dreamy! I loved seeing how sweet, silly and romantic Annie and David were together! They also followed the southern tradition of Burying the Bourbon to keep away the rain, and I loved capturing their retrieval & sweet toast before we all headed to the reception! The gorgeous magnolia focused design by Amanda Jewel Floral + Design really complimented the beautiful magnolias found all over the property! After guests enjoyed dinner as the sun was setting, everyone partied into the night!
Annie and David, you are truly a JOY to be around. I’m amazed by the way you both love on and admire each other. I love the way you each plan “surprise dates” and the way you love and serve those around you! Capturing your wedding day was an honor and a joy for me! I hope these photos will bring you back to the joy you felt on Day 1 of your marriage and that your love only gets stronger from here! Much love and appreciation - Carrie Joy
Isn't this stunning?!! I love that we were able to take some golden hour portraits against the gorgeous ceremony backdrop!
I love all the gorgeous details from the stunning bouquet to these adorable bouts!
Can we talk about how adorable Annie's girls' reaction to see her in her gown is?!! Love!
Isn't Annie stunning?!! This is one of my favorite images from the day!
Father/Daughter First Looks are my favorite! I had to hold back tears when Annie's Dad started tearing up!
Guests arrived at the Ceremony facing this gorgeous field just behind a beautiful asymmetrical floral backdrop by Amanda Jewel Floral + Design
David's face says it all, don't you think?!!
Can we just take a second to celebrate romance?!! This image has me feeling all the feels!!
Annie & David followed the southern tradition of Burying the Bourbon to chase away the rain! Seeing as we had the most perfect weather for their wedding, I'd say it worked!!
Annie and David shared a Bourbon Toast before heading to the reception!
Isn't this stunning?! I love the textured linens, elegantly tied napkins, pretty menus and these southern centerpieces which are the perfect mixture of magnolia leaves and florals!
Guests mingled over cocktails before settling in for Tuscan Salads served family style!
Isn't this beautiful?! When I renew my vows, I absolutely want a dinner al fresco at golden hour surrounded by all those I hold most dear!
Guests were invited to take home farm fresh eggs from the chickens that live on the property at the Oaks! Aren't they beautiful?! I love the colors!
Annie & David - so happy for you guys! Thank you for the privilege of capturing your gorgeous day!

The Cator Woolford Gardens is one of my favorite portrait spots in Atlanta, and once again - it did not disappoint! I recently met up with Wenjie (who you may remember from Rosalina & Doug's wedding) and her adorable husband Futhum at CWG for maternity photos! These two are absolutely adorable together and are going to be the best parents! Their "fur baby" even made an appearance (thanks to Rosalina for being our awesome dog wrangler!). Take a look through a few of my favorites from their beautiful sunset session! Happy Thursday!
Oh y'all - this is film & it's one of my favorites - aren't Wenjie and Futhum adorable in that glowy sunset light?!!!
Isn't this romantic?! I love the soft sunset light, the flowers and Wenjie's beautiful blush gown!
Congratulations, Wenjie & Futhum! I'm so excited for you guys!
