Driftwood Bridal Session on Jekyll Island, GA

The ocean has long been my special place to recharge and rest. My Dad grew up near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so my childhood summers were spent riding the waves, making sandcastles and looking for seashells! It holds so many special memories for me, and all my stress just melts away as soon as my toes settle into the sand. Winter's shorter days and cold temps have me longing for the summer sun and time at the beach even more, so it seemed appropriate that I take a moment to revisit this beachy bridal shoot from last August on Jekyll Island.

Despite the fact that it marked the first time I'd been to both Jekyll and the famous Driftwood Beach, I found something so beautifully familiar while at the same time mysterious and lovely about this area of my new home state. Danielle of Detailed I Do's had a beautiful vision for this shoot that embodied the calm anticipation and contemplation that comes just prior to a woman marrying the man of her dreams. I love the way we incorporated the natural beauty of the island from the floral installation on the driftwood to the movement in the flight of the birds! It felt a little bit like a tribute to that beach experience I love so much. And, getting to collaborate with so many of my favorite creative friends was an absolute joy! We had the honor of seeing the shoot featured over on Coastal Bride last month!

I just love all the amazing florals that Megan of Victory Blooms created - from this gorgeous bouquet to the beautiful installation covering the sculptural driftwood!!

One of my favorite aspects of the shoot was incorporating the seagulls! Their movement and energy added a touch of magic to this serene bridal shoot.

Doesn't Kesia look like a modern mermaid here in the water?!! Love!

A big Thank You to Coastal Bride for featuring this beautiful shoot!
