Film Friday - Jenna, Floral Designer with Gold & Bloom

About a year ago, on one of those gorgeous late winter weekends when it's not quite spring yet (but it's starting to feel like it), I asked Jenna if I could take photos of her putting together a floral arrangement. Michelle Landreau & I wanted to do a film photo shoot of some kind & are both obsessed with florals. Long story short, the light was gorgeous, we carried my dining room table to a field at Kennesaw Mountain Park & Jenna created a masterpiece. At that time Jenna was just starting her floral design business - Gold and Bloom. Now I look at how far she's come and I'm incredibly proud to call her both a friend and fellow entrepreneur! Go check out her most recent work here on Instagram - it's stunning! I can't wait to see the film from our time in Monteluce last weekend capturing some of her more recent designs, but for now, enjoy these colorful film photos from the end of last winter that have me aching for spring to come!

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

- an excerpt from A Prayer in Spring, Robert Frost

Happy Friday!

A Romantic Wedding at the Stables at Foxhall

I loved photographing this wedding with the lovely Noi Tran Photography at the end of last summer. This gorgeous day was set at the newly opened Stables at Foxhall - I just adore this venue! So much natural light!!! Although we captured the whole day together (and I shot both film & digital), I'm only sharing the film today (to see the full day, check out Noi's blog HERE). I just adore film & how it captured the beauty of this day! Happy Film Friday, y'all!

Aren't they a lovely couple? I also loved how each table was labeled with a different fruit of the Spirit. Joy was my favorite - obviously ;-)

Aren't they adorable? I love that we were able to take photos by the lake at sunset!

Look at that JOY! Gosh, I just love this moment so much!

And, I'm excited to returning to the Stables at Foxhall for a wedding this summer! :-)

Kacey & Brian - A Rustic Chic Wedding at Densmore Farm in Cleveland, Georgia

Kacey and Brian had an absolutely gorgeous wedding at Densmore Farm in Cleveland! After a decade of being together, it was a long-expected and incredibly exciting celebration! With the sounds of the creek flowing behind them and family and friends around, Kacey and Brian were officially wed. I knew after meeting with them and taking their Engagement photos that it was going to be an amazingly beautiful day, but even my expectations were blown away! As the sun set over the golden hills and the horses frolicked in the distance, Kacey and Brian enjoyed their first moments as husband and wife in a moment that seemed straight out of a fairy tale! Then, in the barn covered in twinkle lights, they danced the night away with family and friends! As the guests prepared for the send off outside, Kacey and Brian shared one last dance together alone under the lights. It was a beautiful, intimate way to end a perfect day!

Kacey and Brian, I am oh so happy for the two of you! Your lives and your love story are an inspiration. You both have such sweet spirits, and I’m excited to see how you bless others now as a married couple! You have been so much fun to work with. Your day was such a beautiful reflection of your love. Thank you for being a such joy, and enjoy the photos!

Don't Brian & Kacey's rings look lovely with these local wildflowers! I love how film captures that sparkle too! :)

I love Kacey's soft, romantic wedding look; the addition of baby's breath in Kacey's hair was the perfect touch!

I love the stillness in this moment when Kacey slipped into her wedding gown.

Love the girls gorgeous blush dresses! How beautiful are the back of those gowns?

This stunning portrait of Kacey and that amazing lace detail on her dress is one of my favorites from the day!

And Brian looked very dapper as well. His navy suit was perfect for an outdoor wedding!

Even though Kacey & Brian wanted to wait to see each other until the Ceremony, they took a moment to talk to each other and read notes  on either side of a door. It was such a sweet moment!

The recessional is one of my favorite moments of the day - it's always so full of excitement and joy!

Doesn't the wedding party look classy? I love blush and navy together!

One of my favorite images from the day! On film, naturally :-) Aren't Kacey and Brian a gorgeous couple?

Little moments like this one are reflective of what marriage means to me - walking hand in hand through life together.

Kacey and Brian's intimate Last Dance was one of the sweetest I've seen at a wedding -  they'd said their goodbyes & before leaving, took a few moments to dance just the two of them & soak in the day. Lovely!

Congratulations, Kacey & Brian! It was amazing being a part of your day!!

A big Thank You to Julia for second shooting and to the following vendors who helped make Kacey & Brian's day amazing!

Amber & Steve - A Fun Spring Wedding at Willow Creek Falls & Vineyard

Amber & Steve's wedding earlier this month at Willow Creek Falls & Vineyard was one for the books. True to Amber's vision, the entire day teemed with soft, pale spring colors. The day flowed effortlessly and was as relaxed as they come. In keeping with their fun personalities,  Amber and Steve had lawn games available for their family and friends  - corn hole, lawn darts, ring toss, ladder golf and even giant Jenga! Their sweet ceremony in front of the lake was officiated by Steve's brother Jimi and resulted in many laughs and a few misty eyes! Then, after a rocking party, friends and family sent the newlyweds off with a romantic lantern release!
Amber & Steve, it has been incredibly exciting to see the vision you had for your wedding day come to life! You are an amazingly  fun & vibrant couple, and I have loved getting to know you. I adored being able to capture you both (and your fun family and friends) & wish you many happy years ahead!

I adored shooting some black and white film while Amber was getting ready. Don't you love the way film makes this shot of Amber and her bridesmaids instantly classic?!

I'm obsessed with this frame. I love capturing the vibrancy of florals, but with just a couple shots left on this  roll of black and white film, I captured this monochromatic image of Amber with her bouquet. I love the quality and texture in it!

I ADORE when a couple decides to have a First Look! Steve's expression upon seeing his bride for the first time is amazing!

I also love this one of Amber's excited expression & how about that bouquet? Marlipaige Floral Designs did an awesome job!

Love this sweet laugh between the happy couple just moments after the First Look. Aren't Amber & Steve adorable together?!

Steve's expression is proof that having a First Look doesn't take away from the moment when you see your bride coming down the aisle!

I adore outdoor ceremonies! Amber & Steve's lakeside ceremony was perfection!

Mid-ceremony, Amber & Steve sealed a box containing wine and letters to each other that they will open on their 5 year Wedding Anniversary! How cool is that?

Loved being able to grab a few more frames at sunset of the new Mr. & Mrs.! And then, since they'd done a First Look, it was off to enjoy the Cocktail Hour! :)

Love this sweet portrait on the right of Amber's Grandmother Claire - isn't she fabulous?

Loved the beautiful, ruffled cake created by LeAnn Dempsey at Confection Perfection!

The lantern release was so magical! What a perfect way to end such an incredible day. Congrats, Amber & Steve!

I'd like to thank the following vendors for their hard work in helping make Amber & Steve's day a success!

Film Friday - April's Atlanta Film Meetup - Camera Swap

Film and Community. Two things that I am oh so passionate about! They come together in the Atlanta Film Photographers group that meets up once a month to discuss topics, shoot and learn more about film together! It's been such a joy and blessing for me on my film journey! This past month, we met together for a film gear swap in which we brought and tried out each other's film gear!

Noi is so sweet and allowed me to shoot a roll of Fuji 400h through her Mamiya 645 & I love the softness and tones (there's even a fun portrait of Noi taken with her camera - so fun!). To end the evening, I borrowed the Pentax 67 camera from Ben and Colleen and shot a roll of TriX 400 through it. Love how everything came out also! I'm excited for next month as we meet to hear amazing film photographer Ryan Muirhead! Enjoy!

Audrey and Jason - An Engagement Session in Athens

Audrey’s story starts in Athens where she was in grad school and working in retail. Enter Jason, who had just moved to Athens to start his Ph.D. at UGA. They met while Audrey was at work one day. After an earlier experience with unwanted attention from customers at work, Audrey was hesitant to connect with Jason. "He was interesting," Audrey said, "but seemed somewhat arrogant, and I was intent on knocking him down a few pegs conversationally.” A few minutes later, Audrey had to get back to work. But after their chance encounter, Jason kept pursuing Audrey. His initial efforts to impress her turned out to be endearing, and eventually Audrey agreed to meet him for their first date at Espresso Royale in downtown Athens.

"We met for coffee, and a few minutes into our conversation, I relaxed completely. We found that we agreed on so many things - philosophically, politically, metaphysically - and had a ton to talk about. I think we probably talked for four hours straight that day. We had another coffee date the next week, and a marathon dinner date after that, and we've literally been inseparable since."

What is it about Audrey that you love the most? - "I love Audrey's range and constructiveness. We’re comfortable being silly, discussing nuanced academic topics, and everything in-between. When we disagree, we can find the root of the disagreement, discuss it thoughtfully, and find something we’re both happy with."

What is it about Jason that you love the most? - "The first thing that comes to mind is Jason's dependability. No matter what happens, I can always predict how he will react (and it's usually the same reaction I'd have). I trust him more than anyone else and know that he will always come through, even when I myself can't. It's incredibly comforting and makes me feel better equipped to deal with life's stresses knowing that he is my partner."

We didn't do a proposal. We both knew from early on that we wanted to be together for a long time, and that certainty just kept growing until we decided, mutually, to make it official.

In honor of their first date, we went back to the locations of their first date - Espresso Royale, which is now Jittery Joe's - in downtown Athens! So fun!

Audrey and Jason, I had such a blast getting to know you both! Thank you for showing me around Athens! You both are so much fun to be around, and I'm so excited for your wedding in June!

Rachael & Steward - A Spring Wedding in East Texas

Last month I had the privilege of both capturing and standing alongside my sister Rachael as she married Steward in Wills Point, Texas. It was a whirlwind 4 days of driving half-way across the country, seeing family and old friends, being a bridesmaid and also capturing Rachael's day both on film and with digital. Rachael, you are stunning inside and out. I'm so happy for you & Steward! And Steward, welcome to the family! We are so glad to have you! I'd also like to say a big Thank You to Andria Shepard (and Aslan) who helped photograph the day! Below are some of my favorite captures from the day! Enjoy!

Subi Chacko did an amazing job on Rachael's makeup and my other sister Sarah did an awesome job on Rachael's hair!

Pretty obsessed with this black and white film image of Mom helping Rachael with her necklace... Film for the win!

One of my favorites - doesn't Rachael look beautiful?!

Sisters are the best - love Rachael & Sarah cracking up together here! These two have always kept our family laughing!

Loved grabbing a few shots of Rachael with Eden and Sarah! Afterwards, Andria grabbed some of all of us girls together (below)!

Loved the beautiful florals created by Bittie Moeller! This film image of the bridesmaid bouquet is another of my favorites!

I'm so glad the rain held off so we could take some lovely Bridal portraits of Rachael prior to the Ceremony. I love the way film captured the texture of her gown and the color of her amazing bouquet!

Steward and the Groomsmen clean up nicely too, don't they? Thank you Andria for grabbing shots of the guys while I was with Rachael and the girls! Side note - the guys on the ends are my two brothers! :)

These are a few of my favorite images that Andria captured of the Ceremony! I love these angles of Rachael and Steward as they exchanged vows.

After the Ceremony, we headed back outside for photos of the newlyweds! This is one of my favorite film images of the new Mr. & Mrs.!

I love when Rachael & Steward laugh together! :) After portraits of the couple, it was time to head back inside for the reception!

Congrats, Rachael & Steward! We wish you both all the best!

A big Thank You to all those to helped make Rachael & Steward's day amazing!
